Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act of 2026

This Act may be cited as the Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act of 2026.

(a) Secure payments for States and counties containing Federal land

(1) Secure payments. Section 101 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7111) is amended, in subsections (a) and (b), by striking 2026 each place it appears and inserting 2029.

(2) Distribution of payments to eligible counties. Section 103(d)(2) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7113(d)(2)) is amended by striking 2026 and inserting 2029.

(b) Extension of authority To conduct special projects on Federal land

(1) Committee composition waiver authority. Section 205(d)(6)(C) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(d)(6)(C)) is amended by striking 2026 and inserting 2029.

(2) Extension of authority. Section 208 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7128) is amended—

(A) in subsection (a), by striking 2028 and inserting 2031; and

(B) in subsection (b), by striking 2029 and inserting 2032.

(c) Extension of authority To expend county funds. Section 305 of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7144) is amended—

(1) in subsection (a), by striking 2028 and inserting 2031; and

(2) in subsection (b), by striking 2029 and inserting 2032.

Section 205(g)(5) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(g)(5)) is amended by striking 2026 and inserting 2029.

(a) Definition. Section 3(2)(A)(ii) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7102(2)(A)(ii)) is amended by inserting of before acres.

(b) Submission of project proposals. Section 203(b)(6)(A) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7123(b)(6)(A)) is amended by striking the project, and inserting project.

(c) Resource advisory committees. Section 205(a)(3) of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 7125(a)(3)) is amended by striking may, and inserting may.
