Written by the Congressional Research Service.
This resolution impeaches President Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Specifically, the resolution sets forth one article of impeachment concerning abuse of presidential powers by allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate in violation of the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution while undermining judicial oversight.
Text of the bill
As a result, ICE and CBP, under President Trump’s authority, have been converted into his militarized secret police forces (often acting as judge, jury, prosecutor, and executioner) that violate and debase, instead of uphold, the rule of law by abusing and harming those they should protect, as explicated below for each of the above topics.
