Official summary
Written by the Congressional Research Service.
This resolution impeaches President Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Specifically, the resolution sets forth one article of impeachment concerning abuse of presidential powers by allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate in violation of the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution while undermining judicial oversight.
Text of the bill
High crimes and misdemeanors need not be criminal or statutory, and are therefore not constrained by Federal criminal or civil statutes. Impeachment is a political question, as the offenses relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself, as determined by a majority vote of the United States House of Representatives.
