Remote Control Locomotives Safety Improvement Act of 2026

The Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration shall—

(1) not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act—

(A) carry out an audit and inspection of each class I railroad; and

(B) take any necessary actions to ensure each such class I railroad is complying with the requirements of this Act; and

(2) not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, carry out unscheduled audits and inspections, as necessary, on any rail carrier covered by this Act that is not a class I railroad to ensure compliance with the requirements of this Act.
